Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is a great stepping off point to many of the area’s most traveled trails. For starters, a section of the Appalachian Trail is less than 20 miles from the resort at Dick’s Creek Gap access point.

If you don’t want to stray that far from the resort, Miller Trek starts onsite. This moderate 6.5-mile trail is easily accessible to hikers of all levels and takes you deep into the Chattahoochee National Forest. It also has a 2.5-mile loop for a less strenuous hike. The Miller Trek trailhead is near the golf course entrance. Dogs are welcome when on a leash.

Experience local culture while looking for treasure.

Finding unique treasures in local shops and antique malls is another area pastime. Visit the Hiawassee Antique Mall to browse through a beautifully displayed array of quality antiques and collectibles. As Northeast Georgia’s largest antique mall, this 10,000-square-foot retail space holds the offerings of 40 dealers and is run by knowledgeable staff eager to help you find the perfect gift or souvenir.

Looking for the quintessential Southern mountain town experience? Head to Blairsville and stroll around the historic downtown square. Many of the shops are pet friendly. Blairsville is also home to Sunshine Grocery, which was named one of the “South’s Most Charming General Stores” by Southern Living magazine.
