My spouse and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary in July. To commemorate a decade of life together, we booked a weekend at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa.
The resort is classy and comfortable without being pretentious. Because it is also known as a dreamy wedding destination, the resort is well equipped to enhance romantic getaways with options such as spa treatments, golf, equestrian trail riding – even poolside naps.
If you are planning a romantic getaway, I recommend you consider Brasstown Valley Resort in Young Harris for an experience steeped in the richness of the Blue Ridge mountains.
There are some pretty nice options for accommodations depending on what you are looking for. If being closer to the woods appeals to you, like us, you’ll want to stay in a cottage room. Brasstown Valley’s mountain motif cottages boast up to 8 separate cottage rooms and offers a parlor with kitchen and living space for an additional cost if desired. Since we planned to do more quiet activities, our cottage room, located on the backside of Buckeye Cottage, provided the comfort and seclusion we were seeking.
Perhaps you’d rather be close to the action at the Lodge. Of the 102 guest rooms at the Lodge, 5 are suites with fireplaces and balconies. With two onsite restaurants, the indoor/outdoor pool and the pro shop for the golf course all located within the lodge, it’s a great choice for those looking to take advantage of all the activities available at the resort.
Want to create the ultimately romantic getaway? Above the Equani Spa is a private suite with a rooftop deck, Jacuzzi, and gas fireplace inside. The spa is a short drive from the main lodge and easily accessed by car.
Culinary Crusade
Every morning my spouse and I would hike a mile of the resort’s walking trails before an early breakfast buffet at the resort’s main restaurant, The Dining Room. The views of Three Sisters Mountains from the windows are simply stunning! The Dining Room offers comfortable seating, including by a fireplace, if preferred, or outside on the mountain-view veranda. Here’s the menu.
On Saturday we played golf with a couple we had met the night before on the Lodge patio by the fire pit just outside the doors of Brassie’s Grill, the Lodge’s second restaurant and 19th Hole.
After golf, we all visited Brassie’s Grill once more – this time to play darts and a game of pool while we enjoyed the craft beers on tap and American favorites from the grill. Visiting the pub meant making more acquaintances we would see on the trails and at The Stables that weekend.
Spa Life
Equani Spa is all about serenity. The Equani Spa of Brasstown Valley Resort surrounds you in an indigenous-inspired motif with natural timbers, Cherokee hand-crafted decorative elements, and stack-stone fireplaces.
For all body types, Equani Spa offers a pleasing array of body treatments, facials, and massages that open your mind to embrace relaxation and to release your racing thoughts.
The Hot Stone Massages we reserved were amazing to try for the first time! I’ve never felt heated river stones along my spine, where the natural warmth radiated to every tired muscle from golfing the day before. The therapist combined the heat with customized oils and deep massage in the areas of my back and neck that most needed it. I told my spouse how I felt like melted butter and wished that feeling of serenity would stay forever!
Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is truly special. The 503-acre resort property is part of the ancestral lands of the Cherokee. We reserved the spa massage, golf time, and horseback riding in advance. The hiking, getting around Towns County, even reading by the pool all happened naturally at a pace we designed for complete relaxation and rejuvenation.
