Summer Vacation in Georgia’s Mountains

With my first year of college complete, my family and I are here for a week of outdoor fun at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa. It’s a much-needed break before I start a summer journalism internship with my hometown newspaper.

Is there anything more beautiful than a Blue Ridge Mountain sunset in North Georgia’s early summer? Or being on horseback in the Chattahoochee National Forest blanketed with wildflowers?

I can get carried away with the majesty of this special resort – because it is so truly special. We’re staying in the grand resort lodge which means we’re close to the delicious, locally sourced cuisine in The Dining Room, their main restaurant located on the main level.

Need a summer vacay? Come up this way and enjoy a round of golf on the Denis Griffiths-designed championship 18-hole golf course. The breathtaking scenery of the Brasstown Valley Resort Golf Course is just as pleasurable as the world-class golf.

Both Golf Digest and Leading Golf Courses of America rank Brasstown Valley Golf Course as one of the top courses in Georgia. We are playing golf tomorrow and I am excited to be on the fairway in one of the most environmentally sensitive courses in the United States. I learned from the pro shop folks that the course uses only 13 of its 210-acres of woodlands, so it’s like merging a nature lover’s dream with a golf lover’s dream. Even if you don’t play golf, visit the Pro Golf Shop because the gifts and clothing are beautiful and beyond the golf theme.

If you’re here later in the summer, consider booking a reservation for our Annual 4th of July Cookout and stay for a special Fireworks show taking place on the golf course that evening.

  • Did you know? You can book a stay at Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa and receive a round of golf for two for each night booked. Stay.

The Stables at the resort is next on our adventure itinerary. And I can’t wait to get back on my favorite horse, Trevor. Last time, Trevor wanted to eat all the grasses on the side of the trails and the guide assured me how well-fed and pastured all their horses are. This is the only horseback trail riding experience available in this area. If you love horses, you’ll deeply appreciate the 1-hour or 2-hour tours available for guests. The Stables is for anyone, hotel guest, local resident, or visitor for the day.

Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa is the perfect place to come for your summer vacation. There are lots of activities to keep you outdoors and active during the day and with two lodge restaurants, you can dine in without leaving the resort property. Look into the Equani Spa, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, nine miles of hiking trails and a fitness center
